"The students clearly loved working with Gareth (Director) and gained an enormous amount from his professionalism and expertise. They have spoken about their focus on characterisation and how refreshing this approach for them. The project enabled them to bring the period alive by immersing themselves in the lives of individuals through characterisation and thorough research. I was totally stunned by the performances on the opening night; I had expected a great deal, but the students far exceeded my expectations. The public response was tremendous - young and old alike were enthralled!" Jake Lever, Community Arts Coordinator, Cheltenham Bournside School     "The paintings were wonderful, and the drama was brilliant and well performed and really inspiring."     "Brilliant exhibition and fantastic acting."     "Excellent drama - atmospheric - and well portrayed - very good exhibits. Nice to see so many attendees."     "The play was excellent.... reinforced pupils' learning."     "Absolutely fantastic play. The children really enjoyed it"     "Really enjoyed the drama piece, superb cameos and the scene with the injured German made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up."     Visitor Comments

INSTALLATIONS

Bigfoot love to undertake ambitious projects that really challenge excellence and achievement within school. We became involved in a World War II installation project with Cheltenham Bournside College, a specialist school with visual and performing arts status.

We worked with the schools to transform a school studio space in order to create ‘War Stories’ an authentic and multi sensory environment set in a Cheltenham village hall in 1942. Within the village hall were characters from the day coming together to celebrate an engagement, so actors devised their own script involving drama, song and dance.

Bigfoot brought their experience in the form of a director, who helped the actors bring truth and structure to their devised piece and a costume designer who dressed the actors in complete period costume. We also consulted with the heads of department on the over all look of the installation.

What was amazing about War Stories was the team work between school departments, students and outside professionals in order to make the project a success.
