There are many factors that need to be considered when promoting what it means to live a healthy lifestyle. The DfES National Healthy Schools Programme aims to encourage schools to reassess and develop how they promote the health and well being of their pupils, whilst placing a student’s mentality, as well as physical well being, at the core of their learning. This programme has been designed in accordance with the National Healthy Schools Programme Audit Tool, which clarifies the minimum evidence required for schools to obtain National Healthy Schools Status. Bigfoot aims to assist in fulfilling specific criteria recommended by the audit tool by concentrating on the importance of; a balanced diet, regular exercise, enough sleep, an effective hygiene regime, consistent health checks, drinking the recommended intake of water, and maintaining a happy and positive attitude. Students are encouraged, using the vehicle of drama, to discuss, experiment, and explore, how and why all the above factors are so necessary to our wellbeing. Following the assembly, selected class groups will take part in a series of more specific workshop sessions that will provide the students with further subject knowledge regarding healthy living. This programme is accompanied by a comprehensive Resource Pack CD ROM
