FAQ

Does your background have to be in drama in order to be considered by Bigfoot?

No, we accept applications from people who specialise in all art forms, however, the bulk of the work that we currently do is drama based so you should expect to receive less bookings than a drama facilitator for the time being.

How long does the recruitment process take?

At the moment it takes around 2-3 months from the date that you send your application form into the office to the date that you start working as a Bigfooter.

I don’t have much workshop leading experience but I really want to work for Bigfoot – do you offer any work experience opportunities?

Unfortunately not, however, you may be interested in our Actor as Educator Course which equips people with the skills to become a workshop leader. Alternatively, you could try and gain experience with other arts education companies or as a teaching assistant within a primary school.

If I am successful how much work should I expect to get?

This completely depends on your availability and flexibility – essentially the more time you have to spare the more work we will be able to give you. However, you should expect the bookings to start slowly and then gradually increase the longer you are with us.

I am an actor and often have auditions – will I have to commit to a term of work?

There is a common misconception that Bigfoot exists in order to give resting actors work! This is not true and our priorities will always lie with the children that we work with and some of our programmes do require a consistent facilitator to work with them for a term. However, we also have programmes which run on a more flexible basis and will fit in very well with a working actor’s lifestyle.

Quite simply we recruit and invest in passionate people who care about their work. You must be committed to give children positive learning experiences using your unique skills. You must also invest your time in our training, regardless of your experience and knowledge. You will then become the consummate arts educator, or as we call you – a ‘Bigfooter’.
